Joel is a member of the VoidTokyo photography collective. His most recent publications are SLOPES, RESTROOMS and MAILBOXES.

Recognition of Joel’s work includes 1st place at the Tokyo International Foto Awards for his book, The Consolation of Dew, and nomination for the 9th cycle of the Prix Pictet. His work has been exhibited at the Nizhny Tagil Museum of Fine Arts, the Haeden Museum in Korea, and at galleries in Japan, America, and Europe.

A solo exhibition of Joel’s most recent work, Some Men That I Remember, will take place at Place M gallery in Tokyo from April 28, 2025 to May 4, 2025.
